Holiday pay is already part of take-home: it is shown separately so you can see its value after tax. Pension counts your own and the employer's contributions, which belong to you but are not paid out until retirement.
Allowances, expenses and tax regimes
Paid through payroll within each legal limit. Items marked "Tax and social security free" are paid out of the rate before employer costs, so they also save employer contributions. "Income-tax free" items still carry social security. Gains are per year at your current rate.
Each regime has strict eligibility rules (usually moving from abroad, salary thresholds or age). Select one only if it applies.

Country notes and rates used
Belgium: Employee NSSO 13.07% uncapped. Lump-sum professional expenses 30% (max €5,930). Tax-free sum €10,910. Rates 25/40/45/50% plus a municipal surcharge set by each commune (0–9%). Single holiday pay and double holiday pay (92% of a month) are paid by the employer each year.
Municipality used: Average municipality · local rate 7% (editable).
Contractor method: assignment income less the admin charge funds the full employment cost. Employer social contributions and employer pension are solved out first; the remainder is gross salary, which then carries employee contributions and income tax.
Employee pension is treated as deductible from taxable income and not from social security. Check the local scheme limits.
Household (single, no children): Single-person withholding. Household rules use 2026 figures where published; children are assumed to be under 18 and living with you, and dependent parents to live in your household.
Allowances and regimes: limits are 2026 where confirmed; items marked "check" in their conditions should be confirmed before use. Tax-free allowances must be paid within each legal limit and condition, usually on top of agreed pay rather than by converting salary (Germany and Austria in particular). Expat regimes need an approved application.
UK figures use HMRC 2026/27 rates and thresholds (tax code 1257L, category A NI, cumulative annual basis). Swiss figures use 2026 AHV/ALV/BVG rates and ESTV 2026 tax burden for each cantonal capital. EU figures model each country's main income tax, employee and employer social contributions for a single resident with no dependants, using 2025–26 parameters; regional and municipal rates, household circumstances (marital status, children, dependent parents), tax-free allowances and special regimes are modelled from 2026 rules where published, with some simplification. Use the results for quoting and illustration, and confirm with in-country payroll before contracting.
Belgium payroll model and assumptions
Existing calculator assumptions: Employee NSSO 13.07% uncapped. Lump-sum professional expenses 30% (max €5,930). Tax-free sum €10,910. Rates 25/40/45/50% plus a municipal surcharge set by each commune (0–9%). Single holiday pay and double holiday pay (92% of a month) are paid by the employer each year.
Model basis: UK 2026/27; Switzerland 2026; EU indicative 2025–26. The financial models have not been independently audited in this website update. Read the assumptions and limitations before relying on a result.
Municipality settings
This model provides 10 selectable regional options, including Average municipality, Brussels (City), Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges, Leuven and further options in the calculator. Select the option that matches your payroll; a default region is not a statement about your tax residence.
Allowances modeled for Belgium
The tool includes Meal vouchers (employer share €8.91 per day); Eco-cheques (€250 a year); Internet allowance (€20 a month); Home office allowance (about €157 a month), plus further items shown in the allowances panel. Read the eligibility conditions before applying any item. An available control does not establish your entitlement.
Special-regime illustrations include Expat regime (35% allowance). These require eligibility checks and local advice.
Illustrative EUR contractor example
The default example starts with a €575 daily assignment rate for 232 billed days, with an admin margin of €29 per billed week. Using only the model's default settings, it estimates €103,980 annual gross salary and €54,911 annual take-home pay. These are examples, not advertised earnings or a verified quote.
The modeled employer lines include Employer social security (~27%). Employee deduction lines include Social security (13.07%); Federal income tax; Municipal surcharge (7%). Adjust the controls to inspect the actual assumptions for your scenario.
Checking a permanent salary
For a salaried job in Belgium, choose permanent employee mode and enter gross monthly or annual salary in EUR. Do not enter an employer's total employment budget as if it were gross salary.
Payroll calculator questions
How do I estimate take-home pay in Belgium?
Enter the pay amount in EUR, choose contractor or permanent employee, and adjust the modeled settings. Review net pay together with employer costs, employee deductions and the country notes.
Is this an official Belgium payroll check?
No. It is an illustrative gross-to-net model. The existing country parameters have not been independently audited in this site update, and actual payroll can differ.
Can I use it for cross-border contracting?
You can compare modeled outcomes, but this calculator does not determine residence, treaty relief, permanent establishment, social-security coverage or legal contractor status. Consult a local specialist.
